E.J. Dove is a large format black and white film photographer based in the Pacific Northwest. He uses analog darkroom processes to create silver gelatin prints rich in detail and tonal separation. His work is free of digital alteration and/or influence. Images displayed electronically are high resolution scans of finished silver gelatin prints.

Using long exposures and low light, E.J. searches landscapes for a resonant melancholy, highlighting the passage of time found in shadows and emergent patterns. E.J.’s use of his large format film camera forces patience, connection, and curiosity both within himself and the environment. His photographs seek an understanding of time’s influence on both lightness and darkness.
